Can you guess how much sugar is in this one drink?
Leaves are falling. Fall is coming! Fall officially marks Pumpkin Season, and that means stores and your local coffee shops, like Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts are pushing their specialty seasonal pastries and drinks in hopes to grab your taste buds.
There is something inherently Fall about pumpkin spice, even when it's still 100 degrees outside. It just reminds me that soon the Arizona heat will be passing, and the mornings will offer cooler, crisp air, full of fresh smells from the earth.
Beware, tis the season for companies to prey on our emotions trying to lure us in, enticing all our senses.
Can you believe this one Dunkin Donut Pumpkin Swirl Frozen Coffee with Cream 32 oz. is loaded with 183 grams of sugar. That's equivalent to eating 17 glazed donuts. WOW!
183 grams of pure sugar. This should be illegal. Seriously.
With Fall store displays and pumpkins everywhere, fond memories of my childhood growing up in Connecticut with rustling leaves, cool crisp air and the smell of a fire outside come rushing in.
Nothing feels cozier than to snuggle up on a cool autumn day with a blanket outside and a mug of hot coffee.
Don’t stress, you can kick sugar and still enjoy the season making it special by creating your own delicious, healthy specialty drink that won’t cost you your health or happiness.

I love to put cinnamon in my black coffee (you can do hot or cold, although I prefer my coffee hot). For extra flavor, buy Pumpkin Spice flavored coffee grounds to brew. Some days I add unsweetened vanilla almond milk along with the cinnamon. Trust me adding just these two simple ingredients makes it dreamy.
Another option is frothing oat milk or almond milk and topping your coffee with fall spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, or pumpkin spice seasoning. Enjoy!
